I've tried multiple programs to lose weight, and have never had any lasting success. How will my experience with ShillMed be different? In short, we will provide you with the resources, education, support, and medical supervision that will allow for success and lasting changes. If you have an underlying condition we are not equipped to treat, we will find you someone who can help. That is our promise to you.

What methods does ShillMed use to help me achieve sufficient and lasting weight loss?Medical Grade Meal Replacements: These are shakes, bars, and soups, created by Nestle, and tested and used for decades with very low incidence of side effects and high success rates, in comparison to other low calorie diets. **Coming Soon! Learn more about meal replacements here. Medications When needed, and ideally in conjunction with meal replacements, we use prescription medication to help aid weight loss. Education Consults with nutritionists and dietitians as well as weekly webinars will soon be a part of our package deal offerings. In the meantime, you will be provided with weekly education materials. Consistent education on health and wellness helps change the way you think about food, and prepares you to make different choices when you begin re-introducing food. Physical Activity We will work with you to determine medically safe and achievable goals to not only reduce fat, but build muscle in the process. This will change the way you look and feel as you shed the weight, and will be essential in achieving greater longevity and optimal quality of life. Support We understand these changes may be difficult, especially at first. We offer weekly office visits with the doctor in the first month, and weekly nursing calls in addition, to encourage and support you in your goals, and offer advice and suggestions for any challenges you face on a weekly basis. Medical Monitoring Unlike most weight loss centers, your weight loss will be supervised by a competent physician, who will monitor your lab values, your heart health, and your body fat, muscle and fluid levels to ensure a thorough, safe, and effective path to improving your overall health, not only your weight loss. All Inclusive Medical Treatment As we set goals together, it will go beyond weight loss. Dr. Shill is proficient and experienced in treating complex adult disease processes. We can work together to reverse these disease processes, reduce and eliminate medications you are taking, and achieve a greater sense of well being. The improvements you will see will not stop with reducing your clothing sizes and belt loops. We want you to see improvements in chronic disease such as diabetes, hypertension and heart failure, chronic pain, sleep, mental health, nutrition, gut health, joint problems, sexual health, mobility, quicker recovery from illness and surgeries, and so much more. We will custom make these goals with you, and measure and celebrate the improvements in each one.

How long will I be on meal replacements, and how much can I expect to lose? Our standard program requires 3 months of meal replacements, followed by a transition period of 3 months, followed by a maintenance period that can go on indefinitely. The average patient will see a 5-15% loss during the initial 3 month period. Many will see more than that. In the transition and maintenance phases, we will work closely with you to provide support, physical activity education, and nutrition education that will encourage you to maintain the success you have achieved. Relapses are common and can be easily addressed with additional support, encouragement, and short term reintroduction of meal replacements. Many patients continue to lose weight at a slower rate beyond the initial phase as they make the lifestyle changes necessary. We continue to provide education, support and encouragement through a variety of resources, experts and programs to help you make and maintain these goals.

What is a meal replacement?Meal Replacements are shakes, bars and soups that replace all other food and beverages you normally consume for an average period of 3 months (subject to change based on your doctor's professional judgement). They are extremely effective and quick at achieving weight loss based on the following: - Low calories and complete nutrition: Everything your body needs without anything it doesn't. Unlike other low calorie diet plans, these meal replacements are medical grade, and are only available through a doctor's prescription to be coupled with necessary education, support, and medical supervision. - They have been tested for several decades by medical professionals and created by nestle, one of the leading food industries in the world. They have proven to be safer than medication use and more effective than standard low calorie diets. - They provide very few flavor options, based on studies that prove fewer options decreases cravings and improves outcomes. -They have been proven to assist in the reduction and even reversal of chronic disease such as Diabetes type II, Hypertension, Fatty Liver Disease, Congestive Heart Failure, and others, along with all of the associated symptoms, complications and side effects of such. They have been proven to improve outcomes of all surgeries, including bariatric surgery, have a huge impact on overall health and quality of life.

Can I do only the meal replacements and skip the rest of the program since I'm limited on time?We understand time is valuable, and it's hard to commit to a program that is time consuming like this one. Please consider the following: 1. We offer virtual visits for those with limited time so you don't have to take as much time away from family and work responsibilities. Occasional office visits allow us to track your progress and measure your muscle and fat mass to ensure safe and effective progress. 2. Studies have shown that weight loss without education and physical activity will be far less effective and lasting. Let us help you make changes that will last and improve health, not just lower your scale number. 3. Medically induced weight loss requires the oversight of a physician, and will be more likely to be successful if there are frequent checkins, especially in the first month. It's also important to be checking your labs frequently to make sure we are staying on track with your body's needs as it makes changes. We have a lot of options, including virtual consults, available for busy patients that we will happily discuss at your initial consult. 4. Remember that we want to make this work for you, and are committed to custom making your plan to meet your needs. Book an initial consult here to learn more!
